This morning something unbelievable and unforgettable happened to me. As the result of a 30-minute fight I landed a massive carp and when it was on the unhooking mat I noticed that this was the same carp that I caught two years ago.

In that moment the memories came back immediately. I remember this carp well, because after her capture I became a dedicated carp angler. Two years ago I caught this carp thanks to my girlfriend, Ann. She was the one who had cast the rig into the river and decided to leave it there. I had then thrown some boilies into the river around the rig and that was the right decisions because I caught a fantastic treasure from a beautiful river.

Lately I have heard stories about carp over 20 kg in this river and I was thinking if this was possibly true or not. For this season, my goal was to catch 3 carp over 10 kg on this river, so I kept visiting it in order to achieve this. Almost every time I caught some smaller and some bigger carp, some worth taking a photo of. I have caught all of them with the 16 mm Eurostar Squid & Octopus-Strawberry Jam boilie. I have to admit that I don’t like the phrase: big bait equals big carp… I am catching them, always with the smaller baits…

After a couple of nights, the D-day came. I went to the river around 6 PM as usual and after casting in I just sat watching the nature from my chair. There were no bites, so I decided to throw in some pellets and boilies with some Eurostar squid and octopus boost juice.

With the sunrise an aggressive bite came... I was standing with the rod in my hand, watching the line being taken from my reel and after a great play I landed a stunning, monster carp. I knew immediately, that it was the same fish that I caught 2 years ago, in July 2013, because of the scars on the body of the fish. The carp was stunning and healthy even after two years. It was in great condition too. When I took a look at the needle on the scales, my knees started shaking. 20,1 kg. Unbelievable! I could not utter a single word, I was so happy. The first time in my life I had caught a carp over 20 kg and all of this on my beloved river! Just like in my dreams…

The River Beroun gave me her treasure for the second time! Here we are! I am fishing for these moments! I hope, that this wasn’t the last time that I am fortunate enough to catch this fish.
