The Mysterious Lake (Part 2)

Late one Sunday evening I headed off to the lake and, once there, I chose the same location that I had been fishing on my previous visit. I had opted to use corn, tiger nut and SBS 20mm and 12mm M2 boilies for attracting the fish and I set up my rods to fish with a combination pop up of SBS M2 16mm and Corn Poppers. To every rig I added PVA mesh containing M2 Method Mix and 6mm M2 Pellets.

Due to changes in the weather I was expecting more bites, but just the opposite happened and catches were virtually non-existent except for the occasional contact with smaller fish, which wasn’t really a surprise as the lake is swarming with them. Therefore I needed to change tactics - so I decided to increase the use of M2 boilies and hoped to attract a grass carp if nothing else. Thankfully, this change in baiting strategy worked better than I could have wished for as my success came unexpectedly during the height of the temperature that day.

It was particularly rewarding because when everything had appeared to be against me and it had seemed almost impossible to catch a fish of good size, I caught a beautiful grass carp weighing 21 kilograms. As the result proves, for the big catch, it helps to use SBS.
