The Real Big Catch

20 April, 2015.

Competition Angler and CEO of SBS

On the cold winter days I always like to have a look at the catch results of the previous season. Seeing the results always makes me feel proud and brings back memorable moments. Moments spent on the bank such as these are something that we can all relate to. I would say that I am a lucky guy, because we have outstanding results year after year and in these results the innovative SBS products play a significant role. From recent years, I am proud to remember 2011 when we reached a World Record catch result in Mór with András Szigetfalvi and György Bessenyei. Then, in 2012 when the Micula-Pongrácz-Németi team won the World Carp Classic competition in Italy, using SBS baits.

We received numerous catch reports and pictures from the SBS team members (both domestic and foreign) with carp over 20 kg in 2014. But we realized only at the end of the year that we have a new record in the company’s history. Just in Hungary, SBS team members caught 26 carp over 20 kg in 2014. I believe that this is a remarkable and outstanding result! Let us have a closer look at the statistics behind those domestic catches.

  • The average weight of the 26 fish is 23,18 kg.
  • The team members caught 7 fish over 25 kg.
  • Three carp over 20 kg were caught on the Pecamánia Road Show competition in Harsány (August 20th-24th, 2014) by the SBS SziKo team. One of these carp was the biggest fish of the competition at 26,05 kg.
  • Gábor Bali caught the biggest number of carp over 20 kg. He landed five of them, and all of them came on one session. The biggest of them being a huge 26,6 kg!
  • The biggest fish of the year for 2014 was caught by Daniel Novak from Lake Ecsed. The weight of this massive carp was exactly 30 kg.

In addition to the catch results on the domestic venues, we recieved some fantastic news from abroad too! Both members of the Gyöngyösi family should be proud of their catches over 30 kg. They have caught these carp on the famous Rainbow Lake! But the international team members of SBS met the challenge too. We were getting the reports of their catches week by week from several countries, including Italy, Spain, Poland and Germany. I think that the pictures speak for themselves…

Just in Hungary the SBS team members caught 26 carp over 20 kg in 2014.
These results are very useful to set the direction of our product developments for now and for the future too. I think that it is not a big secret that, in terms of some products, the first spark was already born years ago, but the testing period of them is still ongoing. The reason for this is that we only launch a product on the market after a proven track record, and in order to achieve this we must have a long testing period in different countries.

Video footage is available, that covers some of the above-mentioned catches, by clicking on the pictures below:

I would like to wish all carp anglers a similar season, filled with the buzz of success, and also I would like to encourage you to share your results with us either on the official SBS webpage or on our Facebook page!

 Yours faithfully,

 Zoltán Kovács
